Employee Spotlight: Mike Romo

Mike’s background in business development, software product management, and visual arts all come into play in his role Strategic Partnerships Director, driving the Industry Guidance offerings for DDM. Now in Los Angeles, Mike’s varied career has featured roles in many companies, including Six Foot, where he worked to expand the company’s pursuits into gaming, feature films, books, and trade show exhibitions. Before that, Mike managed Apple consumer and enterprise security products at Symantec, after many years in New York working at Razorfish as a producer. Ironically, working with DDM brings Mike’s career full circle: his first “real” job was testing games like Where in the World is Carmen San Diego at Brøderbund Software in Marin County!

A classically trained actor, Mike enjoys working with others to produce great experiences, whether they are on stage or screen — or, increasingly, both! — and loves the active collaboration that working in games requires. His creative instincts are balanced out by his many years as QA tester and later as an IT Director, which help him manage efforts with a passionate, yet realistic, perspective. Mike still pops up on American TV from time to time in commercials and keeps a voiceover rig in his closet for auditions. When he’s not working, he’s playing games, drawing, and trying not to throw out his hip in dance class.
