Manages many of the best interactive entertainment studios around the globe
Expertise for strategic investments and opportunities in the video game business
Digital Development Management (DDM), the world’s leading business and talent agency for video games and digital entertainment, announced it has joined forces with Marc Jackson’s Seahorn Capital Group, a boutique investment firm that specializes in interactive media and video games, to form Seahorn Investments. Through the new venture, Seahorn Investments will offer 360 degrees of service to video game developers and publishers by combining Seahorn Capital’s financing pedigree with DDM’s expertise in game studio representation, consulting and production services. Tequila Works, the creators of the critically-acclaimed XBLA title Deadlight, has been announced as Seahorn Investments first client. Today’s announcement was made by Seahorn Capital Group Managing Director & Founder, Marc Jackson, DDM Founder & Managing Partner Jeff Hilbert and DDM President Joe Minton.
Through the joint venture, Seahorn Capital Group will deliver its unmatched expertise alongside the DDM team. Jackson, who has arranged project and fund volume of over $150 million in the video game and interactive entertainment industry and who helped launch Big Red Button Entertainment (Los Angeles), Fearless Studios (San Francisco) and Rocksteady Studios (London), will serve as the finance director for Seahorn Investments. Among the services it offers are financial advisory and fundraising for its clients -- by orchestrating private placements, mergers & acquisitions, and complex project financing structures. Additionally, it will help raise money for clients through angel investor and incubation partner relations.
By partnering with Seahorn, DDM, which currently represents some of the most prestigious independent developers in the gaming industry including Ninja Theory (DmC Devil May Cry), Yager (Spec Ops: The Line), and Zombie Studios (Blacklight: Retribution), now offers its clients every service they could possibly need for bringing a video game to market. DDM currently operates three distinct divisions dedicated to servicing development studios and the industry at large across all platforms in every major market: Game Studio Representation, Game Industry Services (industry guidance for successful expansion in the video game business), and Game Production Services (facilitates production needs to handle all aspects of bringing a game to market).
“In my 20 years in the industry, creating this partnership is one of the most important deals I have orchestrated,” said Jackson. “Joe and Jeff have done an amazing job reinventing the agency model for game development talent. DDM's stellar client roster, deep industry connections, successful adaptation to the rise of new platforms and business models will truly allow the Seahorn Capital team to extend our reach. There is no limit to what we can offer together for any client.”
“When we looked to add a finance arm to the slate of services we offer our clients, Marc and his team was the obvious choice,” said Minton. “His expertise in this industry is a great asset and by joining forces with Seahorn, we are now a true one-stop shop for all video game business initiatives.
